RIP. John Burnside - Royal Marines

Suddenly, at his home on St David's Road, St Annes on the Sea, on May 21st 2008, former Royal Marine John Matthew Burnside, aged 68.
Cremation at Lytham Friday 30th May 2008.
John was one of the fittest young men of his time. A good runner and a capable boxer, he later became a policeman but left to follow a career in the plumbing trade.
Who could ever forget John joining his oppo in the rafters of the old Fylde Rugby Club, whilst Wandering Walter tried to complete his act, and walking off stage to the comment..."I can't compete with that comedian..."
Walter, better men than you have been out performed by a couple of pissed bootnecks.

Rest in Peace old oppo. Until we swing from the rafters of heaven.

My dad was a fit old bugger in his youth. Many thanks for the comments. As his youngest son I spent many a Sunday afternoon at the rugby club drinking coke and playing the fruit machines...happy memories ;o)
